At its first meeting of 2018, the Elko New Market Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors elected its executive officers and divvied up responsibilities for the Chamber’s various committees.

Dawn Weitzel, Co-Owner of Bodywerks, was elected President for 2018. Dawn and her husband Jeff own locally based auto-body repair shop Bodywerks, a 35-year-old family-owned business they purchased in 2006. The company has been a Chamber member since the Chamber’s inception in 2011. Dawn has served on the Board for four years, spearheading the Point of Impact Teen Driving event, communications, government affairs, and Lunch & Learn events. She’s also represented the Chamber each year at Shop with a Cop, the Chamber’s holiday giving partnership with the Elko New Market Police Department. Dawn and Jeff have lived in Elko New Market since 1999.

Before devoting her time to Bodywerks, Dawn received her master’s degree in Public Administration. Her experience includes teaching; 12 years working for municipal government in communications/marketing, human resources management and City administration; and freelance writing. She is a member of the Scott County Personnel Board of Appeals.

Gordon Deuel, Pastor of Crossroads Church, was elected Vice President. Pastor Gordon has been active in the Chamber for several years, most recently serving as an Ambassador. Crossroads Church can be found participating in Ladies Night Out, the Tree-Lighting Festival, and the City’s Egg Hunt and Halloween Party each year. He and his wife Melissa have lived in Elko New Market since 2006.

Kate Timmerman, Owner and General Manager of The Firehouse Grille, and Tim Sadusky of Farmers Insurance, will continue to serve on the executive committee. Kate as Event Director and Past President, and Tim as Treasurer.
